After a bout of summer flu visited our house last week, I am back on my feet and busy giving the house a thorough clean with my “Heavy Duty” cleaning solution. Thyme is especially potent at getting rid of any lingering germs, and when combined with lemon, tea tree and clove – you really can’t go wrong with this one!
Considering the high temps that we experience in the middle of summer – it’s also good to bear in mind just how quickly bacteria can multiply. This recipe would also be great to use in the hotter months for giving your cutting boards and counter tops an extra wipe down – especially if preparing meat.
You can find this recipe, as well as many more in my book, “Simply Clean” – available for download on my website, as well as Amazon and most other ebook retailers. Starter kits are also available for the US, Canada, UK and Europe! Just click here for more info.
Happy (and non-toxic) cleaning!
I like to use this recipe when illness has been (or still is) in the house, or on surfaces where I’ve been cutting raw meat.
Spray Bottle (24oz/710ml)
½cup/120mls white vinegar
15 drops thyme, 10 drops lemon, 10 drops tea tree, 10 drops clove
Method: To make, combine all ingredients in the bottle and shake gently to combine. Spray counters and hard surfaces. Let sit for 5–10 minutes. Scrub with a sponge or microfiber cloth using hot water. Wipe down with a separate microfiber cloth.
